Data collection

Chester Municipal Charities will only collect and use personal information for the specific purpose for which it has been obtained and will only obtain information which is necessary to fulfil our service to you.
For example, the information that we hold about you may include your name, telephone number and email address following a grant application that you have made. We would only use this information for the consideration of your grant application and keep it for the length of time set out in our data retention policy.

Using your personal data

Data protection regulations dictate that we only use your data for a specific legal basis and we will only process your data for these reasons. Primarily we will use it to carry out the legitimate purposes of the Charity as set out in our Charity Scheme, or where you have given us explicit consent to keep you informed about news and events.
For example, if you have applied to move into an Almshouse we will only use your personal information to assess your application for housing and not for any of the other services that we provide.

Sharing your personal data

Your personal data will only be shared with the Charities employees, trustees or third parties where necessary and for the legitimate purposes connected with the Charity. We will only share your information with third parties where you have given your express consent or where we are required by law to do so.
For example, if you have applied to move into an Almshouse we will may ask your permission to carry out a credit check.
In the highly unlikely circumstances it is necessary for us to transfer personal information to countries or jurisdictions outside the EU, we will take steps to ensure that the suppliers comply with the General Data Protection Regulation or are subject to the Privacy Shield scheme agreed between the European Union and the United States.

Storing your data

We store your data securely and only retain it for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which you gave it or to comply with legal and Charity Commission guidelines on data retention. We will regularly review the personal information we hold to ensure that its use and retention is necessary and proportionate, keeping as minimal data as possible.
Data is securely destroyed when no longer needed.

When you leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

CONTACT FORM

The Charity’s website uses cookies – small text files that are placed on your device. Cookies will usually make your browsing experience better.
