We are delighted to announce Laura Fearnall as the new Chair of our trustee board. This is a particularly exciting appointment as Laura is the first female at the helm of Chester’s oldest charity, which has been tackling the causes of poverty, disadvantage and inequality for more than 800 years.

Joining the board four years ago, The Chester Bluecoat Charity has massively benefitted from Laura’s strategic expertise and two decades of senior experience in the PR and communications sector, as well being a Governor at The Queen’s School for several years.

The Chester Bluecoat Charity aims to work with more partners, charities and voluntary organisations in 2024 under Laura’s leadership, and increase its scope of objectives through a collaborative project that will empower more people throughout the city.

Laura has been appointed after our previous chair, Neil Davies, comes to the end of his tenure after ten years on the board and three years as chair.

We would like to thank Neil for his tireless commitment to the charity. He provided strong leadership and strategic direction during a challenging time due to the pandemic and the demonstrable impact this has had on people’s lives.
