Blacon Beacon helps individuals and families who are struggling with the rising cost of living by offering food advice, cooking courses and help to attain nutritious food at a reasonable and affordable price and also offer a foodbank.
The Chester Bluecoat Charity granted Blacon Beacon over £10,000 in order to be able to employ an administrative assistant in order to be able to reach more people and provide more food to the local community during the Cost-of-Living crisis.
In the first six months in the role of past time administrative assistant, Tiffany has been kept incredibly busy undertaking various tasks for Blacon Beacon. Alongside general administration and day to day tasks including promoting the ways the charity can help the community, she is a welcoming face at the centre accepting donations, greeting members and food bank users and signposts people if they need further support. Tiiffany has even turned her hand to creating healthy recipes with affordable ingredients, for example a red berry smoothie which the members really enjoyed.
A Blacon Beacon representative said “At Blacon Beacon we give food, advice and support to Blacon residents, but we also want to ensure we are building a sense of community where people feel welcome and listened to and where they can also help others. Tiffany is doing a fantastic job at working with the team to achieve this.”
The Chester Bluecoat Charity is delighted with the impact the administrative assistant is having within their community and the support that this role is providing. We strive to make a difference in Chester in the lives of those who really need it, and the grant awarded to Blacon Beacon means that they can extend their reach and services, whilst also empowering their service users.
